Minutes after a mother left with her child the door bell rang. In surprise I opened the door to learn it was KCAU. The news station heard of the fundraiser Clicks for Cans. They interviewed me about the fundraiser and was featured that night at 10pm.
For those who missed it here is the written article from their website!
“Channel 9 Eyewitness News
Kids in Sioux City were all smiles in front of the camera Saturday, and that’s because for every picture they take they help feed a hungry family in Siouxland. Ashley Heim is a local photographer, and for the first time ever she hosted the “Camera Clicks for Cans,” event, where families can donate five items of canned goods or five dollars to give to the Foodbank of Siouxland, and in return they get a professional photo taken.
“I believe in paying it forward. If you do one nice thing for somebody else, they’re going to be able to continue you that for somebody else, later on down the road in need,” said Heim.
It is the first year Heim has held the event. She’s hoping to spread the word and do it again next year.”
